Ashes to Earth
Gardens for forever.
Grief looks different for everyone, and choosing a meaningful path can feel overwhelming.
After our own losses, we searched for a memorial that was personal, beautiful, and proven to nourish the earth. But all across Canada, there was nothing. So we changed that.
Ashes to Earth uses patented soil science to turn cremated remains into plant-friendly earth, for environmentally positive memorial gardens, potted plants, and places in nature.
We know there is no single path to remembrance, only what is meaningful to you.

Memorial Planting Kits
Remembrance isn’t one-size-fits-all.
After a loss, families face difficult choices—and not every decision feels right for everyone. Ashes to Earth Planting Kits open a world of possibilities, removing the pressure for a single choice to define a legacy. You might combine traditional services with a memorial garden, at home or with a cemetery. Create potted plants for friends and family. Or sprinkle at memorable places in nature.
Planting Kits come in three sizes, for pocket-sized keepsakes up to a full urn, so you can honour their life in a way that feels right.
Ashes to Earth soil uses patented science to turn cremated remains into plant-friendly earth that lets new life grow.

It starts with soil. Many families are surpised to learn cremated remains are harmful to plants—with a pH similar to bleach, off-the-chart sodium and calcium levels, and aren’t even biodegradable.
Our patented soil chemistry neutralizes cremated remains and converts them into organic earth that supports new life. We work with world-leading scientists to target 22 biochemistry factors with a specialty soil blend that makes ashes plant-friendly and environmentally positive.

Yes. Scattering and spreading ashes is legal on any private property (with permission), and at provincial parks, national parks, and crown land in Canada. Choosing a Planting Kit keeps these spaces healthy for generations to come.

Ashes to Earth Planting Kits can be used any time after cremation. Grief can make you feel like everything is out of your control. Ashes to Earth gives you back the power to choose when, where, and how you honour them.
Many families find relief giving themselves space and time to decide what’s right, whether it’s part of a memorial service or with an urn that’s been home for years.

"After years on my dresser my beloved’s ashes are now supporting this beautiful maple in the colours he loved.
Every time I walk by it there is a peacefulness that warms my heart."

What about “organic reduction”?
Talk of human composting has hit the news stands widely, with laws passing in many US states this past year. Known as “natural organic reduction” or “terramation”, human composting speeds up the process of turning our bodies to organic matter after death.
This practice is not currently permitted in Canada. Our team is partnering on new developments in the UK and US, and will be ready to support Canadians when legislation opens.
